Unfortunately the beta is no longer open, so the only way to play the game is to now wait until its official release date. Paid for downloadable content is almost a given, but Ubisoft have announced that all major story and gameplay expansions will be free to all players during the first year. Online multiplayer – both competitive and cooperative – will once again be prevalent, and the game will be supported with additional content following its launch, with the experience likely to improve as the month progress and technical hiccups are ironed out. The third-person shooting mechanics of the first game return, as do the RPG elements that allow you to upgrade your character as you progress through the game. You’ll explore a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C., corrupted this time with deadly viruses and not scheming politicians. The game featured a competitive multiplayer mode called the Dark Zone, where players could pit their skills against one another away from the campaign (it even had its own progression system). The games play in a third-person perspective in an open-world that can be freely explored, and players utilise various weaponry to protect themselves during firefights.Ĭompleting tasks and mission rewards you with XP points, which can be spent on new upgrades to your gear, weapons and abilities, making your character stronger as the game progresses.
